Neel is long time executive focused on commercial strategy, marketing, business planning and revenue optimization as a recognized leader in the global aviation industry. Currently, Neel is EVP and Global Head of Airfreight for Flexport, a full-service freight forwarder and customs broker built on modern technology that has raised over $300 million in private equity funding since its founding in 2014. In addition, Neel sits on the Board of Directors of Amerijet International Holdings and is a Senior Advisor to The Boston Consulting Group. Prior to Flexport, Neel served as the Senior Vice President & Chief Cargo Officer for Delta Air Lines. As the head of Delta Cargo, he led approximately 2,000 employees worldwide and oversaw over $1 Billion in freight & mail revenue.

While at Delta, Neel restructured the worldwide sales and marketing force to reinforce the Delta brand, realigned the divisional organizational structure to introduce a greater level of talent and performance and dramatically improved quality which resulted in a 40% increase in contribution to the parent company and effectively leveraged the size and scope of Delta’s global network. During Neel’s tenure at Delta, the Cargo Division consistently led the industry in revenue performance and Cargo Ton-Mile growth. Neel is very experienced with the complexity of merger integration having led the combination of the two different cargo organizations when Delta announced its acquisition of Northwest Airlines. Delta Cargo was the first operating division in the company to completely integrate, and the rapid, seamless combination of the two organizations was a model for the rest of the company. Analysts have widely recognized the Delta/Northwest merger as being the smoothest in the history of the airline industry. Neel was also a member of the airline’s corporate senior management team and played an integral part in developing the airline’s strategies for revenue optimization, competitive positioning, and future M&A possibilities.

Before joining Delta, Neel served as V.P.-Sales and Marketing for United Airlines Cargo where he was responsible for the revenue side of a $765 million business. Between 2005 and 2007, he successfully rebuilt the sales and marketing organization of United Cargo, increasing revenues by $145 million and doubling its contributions to the parent organization. Prior to his position in cargo, Neel held several positions within the Corporate Finance and Planning division at United. Prior to United, Neel held management consulting roles in the global consulting firms of Arthur D. Little Inc. and Beddows & Company.

Over the past several years Neel has been deeply involved in all aspects of the regulatory environment impacting the airline industry both domestically and internationally. Neel has served as Chairman of the Airlines 4 America’s Executive Cargo Council; a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Cargo Committee; a board member of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA); a member of the Cargo Network Services (CNS) Advisory Board; a member of the SkyTeam Cargo Executive Board; and an executive appointee of Governor Nathan Deal to the State Workforce Investment Board and the GDOT Private Advisory Committee. He holds a M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.S. from Swarthmore College.
